Multiple DV deploy on Tippingpoint SMS

Tippingpoint SMS permit only an active Digital Vaccine at a time.

With SMS version 3.2 it is possible to manage new TOS firmware versione 3.2 for Tippinpoint N-series. Sometimes one SMS appliance have to manage both old Tippingpoint E-series and the new N-series and cause they need a different DV version (E-series need DV version 2.5.x and N-series need DV version 3.2.x) it is important to make some consideration about it.

It’s very important to remember that when a protection profile is modified, the filters shown and activated on that profile depend on active DV. Usually the last DV is automatically activated on SMS. But in case of an SMS managing at the same time both E-series and N-series, there are 2 different DV to manage, one for each IPS family. The actual SMS version has a limit that force only one active DV at a time even if are managed different IPS family, so it is very important to activate the correct DV before managing a protection profile: changing a profile related to E-series need the activation of DV version 2.5.x, changing a profile related to N-series need the activation of DV version3.2.x.

If automatic DV download, activation and distribution is activated on SMS the correct DV version is automatically deployed on each IPS appliance.
